We are looking for a highly skilled individual with some teaching experience to join our very successful film and television teaching team. We are looking for an enthusiastic lecturer to inspire students and encourage achievement and career success, using knowledge, skills and external networking. Our film and television teaching is thriving and growing, we have strong industry contacts some of which are drawn from regional studios and post-production in London, with particular connections to the Kubrick legacy and Elstree for example.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Contributing as part of a team and teaching the relevant creative and technical skills to the BA and MA students
  • Design and development of teaching, key learning and assessment materials for a range of modules; making a contribution to programme development and revision
  • Teaching, learning and assessment as a member of a team, and related administration of aspects of the programme, including module and year leadership
  • Making an annual contribution to academic research or consultancy
  • Close working and planning with the professional technical team in relation to teaching, learning support and resources use
  • Leading some aspects of modules
  • Live multi camera setups
  • Development of students’ professional skills and building relevant external contacts and opportunities for student work experience
  • Broader creative aspects of cinematography

Skills and experience needed:

  • The applicant will have a track record of using advanced technical skills as well as an understanding of the wider aspects of cinematography
  • Experience and relevant creative and technical skills, including high level  competencies in: ENG Cameras, Canon C300 & XF305 range, 4K cameras, cinematic lighting, shooting broadcast fiction and factual programmes, Prime lens work practices and associated technologies and uses
  • Good understanding of film and TV creation and production within a contemporary and evolving environment
  • Track record of using advanced technical skills and creative approaches to camera and studio workshops
  • Understanding and knowledge of cinematography and applications within contemporary film
  • Demonstrate an ability to identify and develop a broad and stimulating curriculum; able to relate to a diverse student group
  • Be a creative practitioner working in a relevant area of practice
  • Experience of different professional environments
  • IT skills and technical skills related to the subject, and the ability and knowledge to teach these
  • Understanding of the social, economic and cultural debates that underpin contemporary film and TV production
  • Multimedia presentation skills for use in teaching and the design of learning

Qualifications required:

  • Undergraduate qualification in subject or related subject
