The primary responsibility of the Administration Assistant is to assist in the general work of the Department in providing office support to academic staff and in key activities such as maintaining student records, student module registration, receipt of assessed work and exam marks entry.
The Administration Assistant will also organise the distribution of UCAS application forms to graders, to process the grading decisions on the University’s admissions system and to meet visitors and answer enquiries from prospective applicants to the Department's courses in an informed and pleasant manner with accuracy, tact and diplomacy. The post involves liaison with the Student Recruitment and Admissions Office, colleges and other departments on admissions matters. The Department receives a high number of applications to its courses so good organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines, as well as accuracy in processing information, are essential.
The Administration Assistant will also provide occasional support to the postgraduate admissions process. The post requires willingness to work as part of a team and a flexible approach to task management.
A significant portion of the post involves data entry and, on occasions, the post holder will be required to work under significant time pressure. The post holder must therefore react positively to stressful situations and be able to manage a busy workload.
