Head of the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics

Oxford Brookes University is seeking to appoint the founding Head of the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics. The new School is being created from the merger of the existing departments of Computing and Communication Technologies and Mechanical Engineering and Mathematical Sciences and will have around 1000 students and 60 academic staff.

We are establishing this new School to reflect the increasing synergies and connections between engineering, computing and mathematics, and the central role of these disciplines in technological innovation. The School of Engineering, Computing & Mathematics will build on our existing strengths and provide a platform for the development of a distinctive portfolio of high quality teaching, research and innovation. We are ambitious for the School to be recognised nationally and internationally.

The Head will be responsible for all aspects of the School's work and will join the University at a particularly exciting time as the School will be relocating to a new building on the Headington campus by 2021/22. We have a clear vision for this new building and the transformational changes to teaching and learning that will be achieved. The Head of School will play a central role in developing detailed plans for the building and leading the change agenda.

The founding Head of School will be an outstanding individual with a national or international profile in one of the disciplines represented within the School and proven leadership and management capabilities. You will be able to strongly identify with the ambitions and values of the University, and be able to engage with stakeholders from across the entire University community as well as industry and professional bodies. A successful track record of leading change is essential.
