The Faculty has a vibrant research culture, organised around four University Centres of Excellence The Centre for Appearance Research, The Centre for Health and Clinical Research, The Centre for Research in Biosciences and the Science Communication Unit; and three research groups in Psychological Sciences; Social Sciences; and Public Health and Wellbeing. In addition, we work with colleagues across the University in our Institute of Bio-sensing Technology and the Health Technology Hub in the University Enterprise Zone. The Department of Applied Sciences is seeking an Associate Professor of Biomedical Science to lead and sustain strategic research in the Biomedical Sciences within the Centre for Research in Biosciences. Preference will be given to candidates whose research expertise relates to Infection and immunity; Diagnostics or Cancer biology.

You will support the academic development of our growing portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate biomedical and healthcare science programmes. You will also develop excellence in research, professional practice, teaching and learning, and other aspects of knowledge exchange and/or knowledge transfer in relation to their chosen area of expertise.

A PhD in Biomedical Sciences is a requirement for this role, along with evidence of academic leadership.

You will have sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within the portfolio of departmental teaching programmes, and the ability to develop your own research direction.
