Job overview

The MET subject group seeks to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer who can contribute fully to departmental activities. Candidates should normally hold a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional qualifications.

We are seeking applicants who are committed to teaching, research and external engagement. Candidates should be able to contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education programmes across a range of marketing management disciplines and demonstrate an ability to build links locally and regionally that will enhance the student experience.

A proven ability to lead teaching in the areas of marketing principles and practice, research methods (particularly statistics), digital marketing, marketing communications or event management will be particularly valuable. The nature of the subject group’s teaching means that candidates should be confident, outgoing and comfortable working as part of a teaching team on large modules (150+ students), as well as independently on specialist marketing modules. They should be equally comfortable working with our full-time undergraduates, or our post-experience postgraduate students. Candidates will also be comfortable and credible in dealing with clients who may be at senior levels within external organisations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Post Holder for the Lectureship:

  • To teach aspects of marketing at undergraduate, postgraduate and professional levels.
  • To further develop the curriculum and provide opportunities for a range of student engagement opportunities.
  • To contribute to the research and knowledge exchange activities of the subject group.
  • To undertake module leadership, or other academic roles as required.
  • To undertake appropriate continuing personal and professional development.
  • To contribute to the collegiate life of the Subject Group, Department, Faculty and University.
  • To adhere to FBL business processes and meet required deadlines.

Other benefits, in addition to salary:

  • a generous holiday allowance of 35 Days
  • up to 12.5 bank holiday/closure days per year in addition;
  • flexible working;
  • excellent defined benefit pension schemes;
  • option to participate in the cycle to work scheme;
  • family friendly policies;
  • onsite nursery at our Frenchay Campus;
  • option to purchase childcare vouchers.
