The School of Computer Science and Engineering
The School of Computer Science and Engineering is one of the largest and most prestigious computing schools in Australia. It offers undergraduate programs in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Bioinformatics, as well as a number of combined degrees with other disciplines. About the role
The School of Computer Science and Engineering is seeking an exceptional Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor of international standing to conduct research and teaching in Human Computer Interaction. Areas of interest include but are not limited to: human computer interaction, human-machine interfaces, social and emotive computing, intelligent tutoring systems, interface design, user experience and wearable devices. The School has strong research in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Networks, Databases, Embedded Systems, Programming Languages, Service Oriented Computing, Theoretical Computer Science and Trustworthy Systems and the successful candidate is encouraged to collaborate with academic staff and researchers in these fields.
The appointment would be:
- at level C ($123k - $141k per annum) or level D ($147k - $162k per annum), plus 17% superannuation and leave loading, commensurate with academic qualifications and experience,
- full time,
- to a Convertible Tenure Track Employment Contract for an initial fixed term period of 5 years, with conversion to continuing appointment based on satisfactory performance and there being sufficient productive work available.
The Faculty reserves the right to offer an appointment on a continuing basis or to directly appoint to advertised positions.
We are looking for two exceptional candidates to conduct high impact research in the area of human computer interaction, deliver outstanding teaching and student experience in the discipline of Computer Science and Engineering, build industry engagement and contribute significantly to the leadership, service and engagement missions of the School and Faculty.
As the successful candidate, you will have:
- A PhD in human computer interaction, computer science and engineering or a related field;
- A demonstrated record of excellence in research with international impact;
- A commitment to delivering high quality and innovative teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels; and,
- The ability to actively engage with industry and the community.
