The role is to lead a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project: collaboration between Durham University and an innovative publishing company (based in Newcastle). The Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) scheme helps businesses to innovate and grow through the aid of discipline specific academic expertise. It does this by linking them with an academic supervisory team and a graduate in a university to work on a specific project. The successful candidate will ideally be in post by 15th September 2017.
Working as part of an agile team, you will be involved in developing advanced methodologies for data storage and analytics, for an online publishing ecosystem. This ecosystem facilitates collaboration between Publishers, Journalists and SMEs and the co-creation of content. By applying artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms content creation will be driven by timely and relevant content and insights.
Given the project involves behaviour analysis, as well as a large amount of data analysis, modelling of decision making and data interpretation; an ability to critically interpret results and experience of experimentation, modelling and data analysis is essential. Associate with the PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or closely related discipline is needed for this interdisciplinary project.
The KTP Associate will be employed by Durham University but will be based in Newcastle city centre at the offices of the publishing firm, and will be expected to spend time in Durham to undertake the partnership’s objectives.
The position is based at Milburn House, Dean St, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear and will involve some visits to Durham University.
