We are seeking to appoint a Professor to join our growing, ambitious Department that has a dual focus on Sociology and Criminology, and a strong reputation for producing world-leading research that is impacting directly on society. You will have a record of sustained high quality, internationally recognised research activity, consistent with the research priorities of the School, which creates demonstrable impact upon the university, the external academic and/or professional communities and/or wider society You will have expert knowledge relevant to the strengths of the Department of Sociology and have produced personally led research outputs and achievements sufficient in number and quality to ensure inclusion as part of an NTU submission to REF 2021 for the Unit of Assessment C22. You will contribute to the active leadership, management and mentoring of research students and staff and early career researchers, and develop and deliver inspirational, research-led teaching that creates a stimulating environment for student learning.
We are looking for an inspirational Professor with an established and internationally significant profile in research, evident through a sustained track record of grant income, high quality research outputs, research leadership and demonstrable impact on policy and practice. As a Professor, you will maintain your own research profile while leading the work of others. With solid communication and interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage with the media, you will have the ability to nurture impactful relationships.
