School of Food and Nutrition, College of Health
Your personal experience within the postharvest sector ensures that you are familiar with both research and commercial environments. You are flexible and resourceful, and enjoy the challenges associated with successfully coordinating complex and varied projects.
You will be passionate about applying your technical knowledge to the successful completion of a wide variety of commercially-funded projects solving practical problems for industries supplying products to local and export markets. You will work with prospective clients and relevant technical and academic staff to take projects from enquiry through to the delivery of the final report. This will include project scoping and feasibility assessment, development of proposals, experimental design and execution, analysis and interpretation of results, and writing of reports. You will regularly participate in experimental work at laboratory scale, and may also be involved in on-orchard or in-packhouse work at commercial scale if required by the client.
You will report to the Professor of Postharvest Technology, and will work closely with academics and technical staff in the Centre for Postharvest and Refrigeration Research and, where necessary, staff in the FoodPilot, to successfully deliver on the client’s requirements. You may need to oversee casual staff and interns. Remuneration will be commensurate with skills and experience.
This position based is at the Massey University campus in Palmerston North.
