Position Summary

This entry-level position provides general research, writing and analysis support to the CNEE Senior Policy Advisors and the Research Manager on the following projects:

- Advanced Energy Legislation Tracker
(www.aeltracker.org) and the State Policy Opportunity Tracker for Clean Energy (www.spotforcleanenergy.org) databases;
- CNEE’s Clean Energy Legislator Academy; and
- CNEE web pages, social media and other research projects as assigned.

Position is based full-time in Denver, CO.

Required Job Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in energy policy, environmental studies, natural resources, political science, economics, or a related field.
- Excellent writing ability.
- Minimum one year of experience in clean energy policy research.

Preferred Job Qualifications

- Working knowledge of state clean energy policy and related research sources.
- Ability to independently conduct research projects and to synthesize information into a memo format.
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel.
- Working knowledge of various social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn.
- Working knowledge of WordPress, basic HTML, Adobe Illustrator.

AEL Tracker and SPOT Maintenance

Duty/Responsibility

Support CNEE’s Research Manager in data collection and maintenance of the Advanced Energy Legislation Tracker (www.aeltracker.org) and State Policy Opportunity Tracker for Clean Energy (www.spotforcleanenergy.org) databases, including, but not limited to:
- Reviewing and categorizing legislation in the AEL Tracker database;
- Researching and drafting trend analysis papers for AEL Tracker website;
- Data validation for SPOT database;
- Maintaining and updating policy briefs on the SPOT website; and
- Working with CNEE vendors to update and maintain website content.

Clean Energy Legislator Academy

Duty/Responsibility

Support CNEE’s Senior Policy Advisors and Research Manager in the planning and content creation for the Clean Energy Legislator Academy, including but not limited to:

- Research legislator candidates and maintain database;
- Research and draft agenda content as assigned;
- Assist Research Manager in delegating tasks to summer interns;
- Assist Senior Policy Advisors and Research Manager in writing and researching state specific policy papers for legislators; and
- Participate during the event to coordinate activities and breakout groups.

Maintenance of Clean Energy Policy Guide for State Legislators

Duty/Responsibility

Maintain CNEE’s Clean Energy Policy Guide for State Legislators (http://cnee.colostate.edu/clean-energy-policy-guide-for-state-legislatures-2/), including but not limited to:
- Research, update and edit policies;
- Maintain website, check links, make edits; and
- Assist Research Manager in delegating tasks to summer interns.

Data Collection and Analysis

Duty/Responsibility

Responsible for completing various research and analysis projects as assigned, including but not limited to:
- Researching various websites, databases and research institutions for topical information;
- Taking initiative to seek out information and present it to Sr. Policy Advisors and Research Manager;
- Assist Senior Policy Advisors in creating content for conference presentations and maintaining CNEE graphics related to policy trends; and
- Assist Senior Policy Advisor in writing talking points and memos for conference presentations.

Website Management

Duty/Responsibility

Responsible for posting new content and news to CNEE’s various web pages and social media sites, including but not limited to:
- Updating and creating web pages within CNEE’s various websites;
- Working with website designers to update and maintain website content;
- Systematically checking web pages for broken links and formatting issues; and
- Communicating CNEE papers and events via social media platforms as assigned.
