The School of Economics is one of the largest in the Faculty of Business and Economics. It teaches both undergraduate and post graduate programs. The school contributes to research excellence and provides advice on important economic and social issues facing regional Governments and other stakeholders.
The appointee will teach undergraduate and post graduate courses in Microeconomics and Environment Economics. He/she will supervise post graduate research students and contribute to building a stronger research profile for the school. This person will also work with other regional and international organisations, engage in consultancy services and contribute to the School’s annual work plan and the University’s Strategic plan.The position is based at the University’s Laucala Campus in Suva, Fiji.
The Person We Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- A PhD in Economicsfrom a recognisedUniversity;
- A proven record of successful teaching experience at the tertiary level;
- Excellent research publications in Environment Economics.
- For appointment at the Senior Lecturer level you must have a strong record of published research in top-tier journals and books with either a formal tertiary teaching qualification or significant tertiary teaching experience.
Preference will be given to applicants with:
- Relevant research related to environment issues in the Pacific region;
- Knowledge of the Pacific region.
The position is available for a term of3years and may be renewed by mutual agreement
Salary Range: LecturerFJ $66,990 to FJ $88,144 per annum
Senior LecturerFJ $90,882 to FJ $104,865 per annum
In addition to the above benefits, the University contributes 10% of basic salary to an approved superannuation scheme, provides airfare and relocation costs where appropriate.
