An exciting opportunity has now arisen for an outstanding individual to join the University’s senior leadership team. 
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise will play a leadership role in the delivery of Vision 2020. They will have overall responsibility for the development and implementation of the Institutional Research, Knowledge Exchange, and Postgraduate Strategies. The Pro-Vice- Chancellor will lead on harnessing the University’s academic expertise, world class reputation and impact, to develop Northern Ireland as a region with global ambition and reach.
The successful candidate will have achieved significant international recognition for their research and scholarship and have an established academic track record. With extensive leadership and management experience, they will focus on raising the profile of the University globally, promoting Queen’s reputation for excellence in research and innovation across the world and leading the development and embedding of an ambitious research, enterprise and postgraduate culture across the University.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Significant international recognition for research and scholarship, with an established academic track record;
  • Academic leadership at a senior level;
  • Demonstrable ability to lead projects in a multi-disciplinary research-led environment;
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the REF;
  • Commitment to promoting the relevance of the institution’s research in a national and international context, through engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Commitment to the University’s vision and values, together with a passion for the development of a high quality, world leading education and student experience;
  • Proven ability to undertake a representational role both within the University and externally, and to communicate with people and organisations at all levels and, in particular, policy-makers and bodies in the public, private and community sectors;
  • An understanding of the challenges and strategic issues facing higher education.
