The Centre for Academic Standards and Quality Enhancement (CASQE) is responsible for the maintenance of academic standards, the management of collaborative provision and the promotion of quality enhancement.

CASQE comprises two teams: The Academic Quality and Standards Team and the Academic Collaborations Team. The office acts as a central point of information for all University staff in relation to programme approval, programme monitoring, academic assessment, collaborative partnerships and Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs).

Key responsibilities for CASQE include:

  • Development, implementation and monitoring of policies, regulations and procedures which enable the University to assure itself about the quality and standards of programmes leading to its awards;
  • Management of the formal approval of new programmes of study, and the re-approval of existing programmes for ‘home’ and collaborative provision;
  • Approval of new collaborative partnerships and periodic review of existing partnerships;
  • Oversight of PSRB approvals and monitoring of ongoing compliance with Professional Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs) requirements;
  • Quality management of collaborative provision;
  • Oversight and ongoing development of the Continuous Monitoring and Improvement process;
  • Maintenance, review and development of the University’s Assessment Regulations and related procedures;
  • Appointment of External Examiners and analysis of Examiner reports;
  • Ensuring that the requirements of external quality and standards bodies such as the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) and the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) are addressed;
  • Preparation for and co-ordination of external audits and reviews.


To provide high-level administrative support in the Academic Quality and Standards Team. To be responsible for developing, implementing and managing administrative systems to support the development and
management of the University’s procedures for Quality Management.
To work in close liaison with academic and professional service colleagues, raising awareness of, and ensuring compliance with, the Universities policies and procedures by providing authoritative advice, guidance and administrative support relating to quality assurance and enhancement.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience of working within the Higher Education sector in an administrative capacity.
