Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Liaising closely with colleagues in Library Services to lead collection development practices that are user driven and evidence based.
  • Coordinate data collection activities across library services and other departments to inform strategic priorities.
  • Lead in data analysis to facilitate evidence based decision-making using collection management tools.
  • Make recommendations for collection development based on usage and engagement indicators for our collections.
  • Coordinate physical and digital collections collection management schedule e.g. de-selection of materials, subscription reviews in consultation with others in Library Services.
  • Provide timely information to support liaison and consultation activities lead by Academic Engagement team in consultation with the team leader.
  • Develop collection and usage profiles for academic departments or programmes; link these to collection development systems and processes.
  • Be responsible for providing line management, e.g. induction, probation, appraisals, training and development, regular face to face communications with direct reports.
  • Contribute and provide expert advice for the evaluation and development of new services, resources and technologies to enhance collections and collection management activities.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings, briefings, and committees; lead projects and working groups within remit.
  • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required by the line manager or other senior colleagues.
