We are looking for an energetic, ambitious and focused leader to build and develop the newly established UWS Academy. This is a new role and as such the post holder will shape the structure required to bring about the aims and vision of UWS Academy. You will work closely with the Associate Vice-Principal (Education), the Head of the Quality Enhancement Team and the Head of Education Futures to develop and shape the overall professional academic delivery that places Student Success, Research and Enterprise and Global Engagement at the heart of what we do. You will have experience of leading a successful professional academic development unit with demonstrable positive impact.
UWS academy will lead the development, delivery and review of a comprehensive academic development provision in all aspects of “training, qualifying, certifying and graduating”, including academic induction, credit-bearing programmes, routes to professional recognition, and continuing professional development provision for all who engage with education, research and support student learning. You will oversee and develop the Graduate school function ensuring proactive leadership and management of the postgraduate research student experience and aligned with Concordat develop all aspects of supporting PGR students, their progress and all the skills they require including the development of a Doctoral Training Academy, Supervisor training and Professional Doctorate.
As a leading member of staff you will have the experience, energy and enthusiasm to build a team and a professional service delivery to develop the skills and expertise necessary for all (academic staff and PGR students) involved in education, research, enterprise thereby enabling all staff to contribute effectively in support of the strategic objectives of the University.
You will have a relevant doctoral degree and be recognised as an expert in higher education pedagogy/learning and teaching at national or international level. You will have demonstrable success in change initiatives and demonstrating impact is essential and have a track record of being an inspiring leader who can achieve strategic outcomes. Key to your success will be effective skills in communication, influencing, negotiating and networking.
