City, University of London intends to appoint its new Chair of Council. Building on the success of recent years under the leadership of Rob Woodward as Chair of Council and Professor Sir Paul Curran as President, the Chair will lead the Council, ensure City’s strategy is well-executed by the Executive and act as an ambassador for City.
City, University of London is a global university committed to academic excellence and focused on business and the professions. City enjoys historic links to the City of London and an enviable central London location.
City is in the UK’s top twenty (Guardian University Guide) and the world’s top four per cent (Times Higher Education World University Rankings). It attracts around 19,500 students (35% postgraduate), is well above the sector average for graduate employability in most subjects, is eleventh in the UK for starting salaries and is second in London for student satisfaction. City joined the University of London in 2016.
The Council is City’s governing body, sets its strategic direction and ensures the effective management and control of its affairs, property and finances. Council appoints the President, Chair of Council and Deputy Chair of Council.
The Chair will guide the work of a highly talented and very senior group of Council colleagues. He or she will bring considerable experience at board level, preferably as chair; will demonstrate knowledge of and a deep commitment to Higher Education; and will have credibility and a strong network with the City’s major stakeholders and senior figures in business and the professions.
