The Institute for Policy Research (IPR) at the University of Bath is a leading institute for public policy research in the UK. It undertakes research focused on public policy challenges, offers a professional doctorate in policy research and practice, and delivers programmes of structured engagement between academics, policymakers and the wider public.

The IPR seeks to recruit a Reader in Public Policy to lead a programme of research on widening participation into higher education. We are looking for an established academic with very strong quantitative research skills, a research track record in public policy economics or a related discipline, and a commitment to promoting the public good through innovative, influential research. The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to IPR research and impact activities on other strands of public policy research. You will also be affiliated to the University of Bath's Department of Social and Policy Sciences.

The successful candidate will lead research with national and international impact and profile on widening participation into higher education, with a particular focus on quantitative research; contribute to related IPR research on public policy; support the delivery of IPR events, roundtables and programmes for policymakers; contribute to teaching at postgraduate level; supervise postgraduate research students; and undertake management and leadership duties commensurate with the role.

For further information and discussion about the role please contact Professor Nick Pearce, Director of the IPR, on 01225 385333.
