Applications are invited for the permanent role of Horticulture Technologist, UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science.

The appointee will be responsible for managing the horticulture outdoor and related protected crops research and teaching facilities at UCD Rosemount, in particular the apple collection, new apple orchard, USGA golf green and apiary.  Horticulture research in the School embraces new top fruit varieties, the development of novel plant growing media from recovered organic materials and nutritional management of sportsturf. The appointee will work as part of a team and will support horticulture teaching and demonstration needs of undergraduate and graduate students. S/he will be a member of the Environment & Sustainable Resource Management section in the School and will support the needs of others in the School working in the plant science disciplines. S/he may also be required to assist in the Crop Science and Horticulture Laboratory located in the Agriculture and Food Science Centre. The laboratory and Rosemount Environment Research Centre research facilities are located on the main Belfield campus. 

Additionally, the appointee may also be expected to carry out some duties off campus. Candidates should hold an honours degree in horticulture and ideally will have 2-5 years of experience working in the industry, teaching or a research environment.  S/he should have experience of integrated pest management, and operating orchard and turfgrass machinery. 

Salary Scale: €37, 324 - €49,550 per annum
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
