The University of Greenwich has a growing reputation. We are now seeking to recruit an outstanding individual to join our re-organised Human Resources Directorate Senior Leadership Team in a new role as Deputy Director of Human Resources. The successful role holder will provide leadership, expertise and strategic direction as the deputy to the Director of Human Resources and will cover for the Director on an official basis at all times during their absence.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of success in the planning and delivery of HR services which meet the needs of clients and in the operation and efficient running of a human resources operations function, preferably in a comparable organisation. They will have the necessary gravitas, presence and professional experience to be able to influence senior stakeholders across the University in the ability of the directorate to be an effective partner in the process of change.

You will be an outstanding communicator with the skills to persuade and engage at the highest levels, internally and externally. You will also be an experienced people manager with the ability to develop and motivate a high performing large team of HR professionals.

The successful role holder will be required to work closely with the other teams within the directorate and with other directorates and Faculties to maximise positive exposure for the University of Greenwich. They will provide direct support to the Director of Human Resources on the University’s People Strategy and will be expected to take ownership and lead on the aspects of the HR Strategy which fall within the role’s remit. The successful role holder will also have lead responsibility for developing and setting standards for service delivery and building capability within the HR Directorate across the areas of recruitment, operations and provision of management information.
