We are now seeking to recruit an outstanding individual to join our re-organised Human Resources Directorate Senior Leadership Team in a new role as Head of People Services. The successful role holder will provide leadership, expertise and strategic direction for planning and delivering services that support employees at the University in a way which meets the needs of our clients; ensures the efficient running of the Directorate and supports the implementation of the University’s People Strategy.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of monitoring the standards of performance required to deliver a high quality HR service and building capability within the Recruitment, Operations and Management Information Systems Teams to deliver this.

The successful role holder will be responsible for the effective management and delivery of the University’s Rewards and Benefits Strategy and will take the lead in the administration of the HERA (Higher Education Role Analysis) process including the facilitation of the University’s job grading review process and being the Secretary to the University’s Role Assessment Panel (RAP) chaired by the Vice Chancellor.

The successful roleholder will have the necessary gravitas, presence and professional experience to be able to influence senior stakeholders across the University in the ability of the directorate to be an effective partner in the process of providing a high quality HR service including the provision of excellent up to date knowledge of employment law and in providing accurate, timely and effective management information in order to assist stakeholders in workforce planning, management and progression of talent and succession planning.

You will be an outstanding communicator with the skills to persuade and engage at the highest levels, internally and externally. You will also be an experienced people manager with the ability to develop and motivate a team of 17 HR professionals so that the service provided continues to improve. Your teamwork and collaborative experience and skills will be essential for this role.

The successful role holder will also be required to work closely with the other teams within the directorate and with other directorates and Faculties to maximise positive exposure for the University of Greenwich. The role holder will provide direct support to the Director of Human Resources on the University’s People Strategy and will be expected to take ownership and lead on the aspects of the HR Strategy which fall within the role’s remit.
