Group Leader in Allergic Inflammation
About the role
This position provides the opportunity for a mid-career or established researcher to lead the Inflammation and cancer Laboratoryat the Centre for Cancer Biology, which undertakes research focussing on inflammation, cell signalling and the processes by which inflammation influences cancer development.
Skills and Experience
You will hold a postdoctoral qualification and will be an expert in understanding various cellular and molecular aspects of inflammation that underpin cancer development. A strong publication record, demonstrated success in attracting significant competitive research grant funding combined with the ability to communicate research findings to a variety of audiences is essential. You will also have strong communication and collaborative skills suited to leadership, networking, teamwork and the supervision of students.
The level of appointment will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
Centre for Cancer Biology
The Centre for Cancer Biology (CCB) is a Medical Research Institute (MRI) underpinned by an alliance between the University of South Australia and SA Pathology. The CCB boasts the largest concentration of cancer research in the state and is recognised as a hub for innovative science leading to breakthrough therapies. The CCB is jointly headed by Professors Angel Lopez and Sharad Kumar and currently hosts 22 full-time research group leaders and their teams. The CCB studies the fundamental causes of cancer in order to find new ways to prevent and treat the disease. The translation of new discoveries into clinical practice is strengthened by the co-localisation of the laboratories within a single MRI, and its integration with pathology and with the clinical services at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. The CCB will soon be relocating to new, state of the art facilities in Adelaide’s western biomedical precinct.

In addition to your salary, the University will make employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% of salary on your behalf.
