Sport is a fundamental component of St Mary’s strategic vision, purpose and ethos and Sport St Mary’s utilises sport in innovative and transformative ways to significantly enhance the student and staff experience and achieve institutional goals and outcomes. The Which? University awards recognise St Mary’s as one of the UK’s best institutions for sport. Our new £8.5m sports centre was home to athletes from ten teams during the London 2012 Olympic Games. Additionally 22 St Mary’s athletes competed in the 2016 Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games.

We are looking for a Sports Development assistant to join our team to assist with developing our SIMMSactive Recreational programme, which is funded by Sport England’s University Sport Activation Fund. Our SIMMSactive programme provides students and staff with weekly drop in sessions, encouraging them to try new activities that are fun, sociable and student led. The successful candidate will assist with the planning, delivery, marketing & promotion of SIMMSactive, monitor and evaluate participation levels and provide recommendations on additions to the programme that will increase participation levels amongst students and staff. This role would be ideal for a recent graduate looking to gain experience in sports development.

 The successful candidate will work as part of the Sports Development team to deliver our ‘More than a Game’ strategy for student sport that aims to develop a sports programme that significantly enriches the student experience and supports individuals to realise their full sporting and academic potential.
