Description of Work Unit
To use our expertise to provide the highest standard of care for laboratory animals in support of the Colorado State University research community.
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative and technical support for the animal management system used by LAR. This system follows animal acquisition to disposition, maintains census, transfers and billing information. The position will be responsible for serving as a help desk for faculty, staff and other users including training. Additional duties include administrative support for non-LAR animal census through KFS, and assist with other administrative functions such as time sheets.

Job Duty Category Laboratory Animal Resources Management System Administration Duty/Responsibility
Comprehensive knowledge of the animal management system to perform animal acquisitions, census, transfers, disposition and billing for animal users. Serve as the primary point of contact for trouble shooting concerns related to the animal management system. Develop and implement training materials for end users. Conduct a monthly animal census; investigate and initiate corrections as needed.
Percentage Of Time 70 Job Duty Category Animal Census Duty/Responsibility
Identify and track non-LAR census within the KFS system and
communications with faculty to maintain appropriate tracking to meet federal regulations and guidelines. This requires a knowledge of KFS system and identifying the appropriate codes related to animal use.
Percentage Of Time 20 Job Duty Category Administrative Support Duty/Responsibility
Provide administrative support for items such as personnel time sheets, electronic archiving, computing needs, compiling data, reviewing materials and documents, and financial materials.
