This post is Full Time and Fixed Term from 1 September 2017 until 31 August 2018.

The School of Government and International Affairs is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and outstanding individual to the post of Teaching Fellow for a fixed term period, from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2018. The successful applicant will work primarily on the taught MSc programmes delivered by the Durham Global Security Institute [DGSi].

DGSi engages academic staff from a range of departments but being principally located within the School for the purposes of taught programme delivery and administration. DGSi offers a dynamic research environment within which to critically examine the interplay between defence, development and diplomacy in the contexts of conflict prevention, humanitarian intervention and post-conflict stabilisation and peacebuilding. DGSi's core mission is to offer an independent academic environment in which academics, policy-makers, military personnel, diplomats, civil servants, NGO and IGO staff, and stakeholders can meet and learn from each other's perspectives. Uniquely, DGSi situates itself at the intersection between war and security, peace and diplomacy, and development studies, within a framework in which critical and subaltern perspectives can interact with problem-solving and traditional approaches.
