Description of Work Unit

The College of Liberal Arts Office of the Dean hires part-time instructors to teach courses for the LEAP Institute for the Arts, a Special Academic Unit housed in the College. Undergraduate courses for the LEAP minor may include: LEAP 200, Advocacy in the Visual and Performing Arts, LEAP 220, Technology and the Arts in the 21st Century; and LEAP 300, Arts Outreach and Community Engagement. Graduate courses for the LEAP Master in Arts Leadership and Administration may include LEAP 650, Arts Events Management. Online versions of all these courses may also be available.

Position Summary

Required Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications for undergraduate courses:

• MA in arts management or liberal arts discipline;

Required Qualifications for graduate courses:

• Ph.D. in arts management or related liberal arts discipline. A master’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in arts and cultural management fields may be substituted for the Ph.D.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications for undergraduate courses:

• Evidence of experience in teaching arts management and leadership;
• Evidence of excellent teaching capability at undergraduate level.

Preferred Qualifications for graduate courses:

• Evidence of experience in teaching arts management and leadership;
• Evidence of excellent teaching capability at graduate level.

Preferred Qualifications for online courses:

• Online teaching experience or willingness to participate in online teaching workshops offered through The Institute for Learning and Teaching (TILT).
