The University of Bristol invites applications to a permanent Lectureship (Lecturer B) in the history of Africa and/or its diasporas. Candidates who can demonstrate excellence in research and teaching (specialising in any historical period) are invited to apply.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute fully to high-quality teaching and administration within the Department of History and to pursue research in her/his area of specialism to the highest standards in order to enhance the international research profile of the Department, the School of Humanities, and the Faculty of Arts. The appointment start date is September 2017.

Timescale of appointment:

Long-listed candidates will be notified on or about 5th May 2017. They will be required to submit a sample of their work (in English, not more than 10,000 words) as soon as possible after notification but no later than 10th May 2017.
