Post Doctoral Research Assistant - History
Post Doctoral Research Assistant
Department Of History
Grade 7 (£32,004)
This post is Full Time and Fixed Term starting on the 01 April 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter until 26 August 2017.
The Department of History seeks to appoint a fixed-term (approx. 21 weeks) post-doctoral Research Assistant (Grade 7) to work on the Leverhulme Trust-funded research project ‘Re-thinking Petitions, Parliament, and People, c. 1780-1918’. Led by Dr. Richard Huzzey and Dr. Henry Miller, the project exploits overlooked sources to reveal the role of parliamentary petitions during an unparalleled period of political change in Britain. The Research Assistant is expected to assist in the transcription, categorisation, and analysis of printed records of petitions in the Journals of the House of Commons (in the period c. 1780-1835) and other research tasks required.
Some familiarity with parliamentary records in this period, particularly the digitised Journals of the House of Commons, is desirable. We seek to appoint a candidate to begin work from 1 April 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter, as the post will coincide with a period of personal leave by a member of the project team.
Closes midday on : 27-Mar-2017
