The Role and Your Responsibilities

Working across a large range of activities, materials and processes employed within the School's laboratories, the Textile Testing & Innovation Officer will assist in providing solutions to the unique and challenging problems found within laboratory operations.

The Textile Testing & Innovation Officer will assist with the organisation and support of laboratory equipment in the research Centre facilities at RMIT Brunswick Campus. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day running of equipment including quality control, maintenance and stocking of consumables. The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring the facilities and activities are OH&S compliant and in accordance with best practice. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical support, training and advice to research staff and HDR students on equipment and associated software in the designated facilities.

The position has a strong OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety) component and is expected to work closely with academic and support staff and current students of the School to help ensure compliance in this area.

Skills & Experience Required

You will have demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in a laboratory environment and related chemicals and their relevant safety requirements and practical experience in the textile testing of fibre, yarn and fabric physical and chemical characteristics. Your demonstrated experience in maintaining a range of laboratory, research and industrial equipmentwill be essential to your success in this role.
