Lecturer in Production - Lighting Design

Salary: $95,434 - $113,323 p.a. plus 17% superannuation
VCA Production has a long established reputation as a leader in the preparation of Design, Management and Technology professionals for Theatre and Live Performance. Production activity at VCA encompasses all aspects of performance production – set, costume, sound and lighting design, workshop, wardrobe and stage management.
We are seeking a well-respected professional and academic to undertake curriculum development, research and leadership in Lighting Design. The successful appointee will be responsible for assisting the development and delivery of a relevant and forward thinking Production curriculum within a responsive performing arts program.
You will have a PhD (or equivalent professional practice) and an established reputation primarily as a lighting designer, with a demonstrated record of excellence in professional practice in the performing arts industry across a variety of live performance styles. Additionally, you will have teaching experience in a higher education context and experience in the design and development of undergraduate and postgraduate curricula. Continued engagement in professional practice will be supported to ensure currency with current and emerging practices.
This is a full time, fixed term (three years) position commencing July 2017 or as negotiated. The position will be based at the Southbank campus, in the heart of Melbourne's cultural precinct.
