Immunology and Infectious Diseases

Position Description

The Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases (IID) at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of assistant or associate professor. IID faculty research is primarily focused on diseases of developing countries and includes laboratory-based research that is often supplemented by field-based studies of epidemiological and ecological aspects of infectious disease transmission and control. The successful applicant will hold a PhD and/or MD degree and will have a record of outstanding productivity in an area of protozoan parasite infection and/or transmission biology, including vector biology. The candidate should possess the ability to work collaboratively with other scientists and the scholarly qualities required to mentor doctoral students in the PhD Program in Biological Sciences in Public Health within Harvard’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Generous start-up packages and state-of-the-art research facilities will be available. IID has particular interest in recruiting individuals with research programs in the following areas:

  • Mammalian-parasite and/or vector-parasite interactions
  • Biology across the life cycle of protists of public health importance, including the malaria parasite
  • Mechanisms of disease pathogenesis and/or immune control in protist infections/infection models
  • Systems biology/chemical biology approaches, applied at a mechanistic level, to problems of protist infection
