Sitting within the Faculty of Architecture, Computing and Humanities, the Department for Computing and Information Systems, the largest within the University, is a vibrant community of academics with a strong commitment to teaching excellence and research, widening participation, diversity and internationalism which is reflected in its staff and student profiles. The Department currently comprises approximately 50 members of staff, over 1,200 students, and a number of active research groups in the fields of computer science, software engineering, network technologies, security and forensics, business computing, digital media, and games design and development.
The Department now seeks to appoint a permanent Professor who will also serve as Head of Department for a termed appoinment of three years, with the option to renew, to strengthen the Department’s position in subject league tables through the academic attainment of its students and to inspire excellence in research, teaching, management, enterprise and other professional responsibilities. The appointee will have an excellent research profile in subjects complementary to the Department’s areas of excellence, be able to demonstrate prior experience of significant academic leadership and programme development, and will be marked by an enthusiasm for the ethos of the University of Greenwich. This is a key role in the Faculty structure and will work closely with the Pro Vice Chancellor, Deputy Pro Vice Chancellors, and other senior members of staff to ensure the successful delivery of the Faculty’s objectives and plans.
