We now have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology, within the Division of Tropical Health and Medicine at James Cook University (JCU).  A continuing appointment, this role is based at our Townsville campus located in picturesque tropical North Queensland.

Through its research, teaching and engagement activities, the Division of Tropical Health and Medicine at James Cook University is at the forefront of improving health in rural, remote, Indigenous and tropical communities within Australia and world-wide.

As one of the three colleges of the Division of Tropical Health and Medicine, The College of Healthcare Sciences focusses on the creation of high-quality, highly-employable graduates through our multi discipline programs and are also crucial contributors to the health needs of Northern Australians.

Your role

Over the past 40 years Psychology at JCU has earned a strong reputation for the integrity of its courses and the quality of its graduates. Psychology was a foundation discipline at the beginning of James Cook University and current student enrolments across all three campuses place the discipline of Psychology as the third largest at JCU.

As an accomplished professional in your field you will strengthen the Discipline of Psychology at JCU by conducting high impact, independent research together with the potential to attract research funding. You will also teach into the psychology program and supervise Higher Degree by Research, Honours and Postgraduate students.

Key to your success will be your contribution to the psychology program through coordination, development and teaching of coursework subjects using innovative, best-practice methods.  You will design contemporary and effective curriculum utilising various methodologies (including online and blended learning) providing high quality learning experiences that engage students.

As you will provide clinical supervision for students on placement in the postgraduate clinical psychology programs, you must be endorsed as a clinical Psychologist, approved as a Clinical Supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia and maintain AHPRA registration.
