The Australian Steel Industry is at the leading edge of protective metallic coatings.  Maintaining this technological leadership will be critical for the ongoing competitiveness of the Australian Steel Industry.  New surface coatings will be a key focus of the Steel Research Hub, which will be the centrepiece for collaborative steel research in Australia.

The University of Wollongong is the administrator of the Steel Research Hub which has attracted funding of $12M over five years from the Australian Research Council, Industry and other partners.

Project C2 “An Innovative Coating Technology Platform” within the Steel Research Hub is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow, with a strong interest in industry-relevant metal coating research, to join the experienced team of researchers, from UOW and BlueScope, already established. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the investigation into the fluid dynamics of the jet stripping liquid coating process in hot dip galvanizing. The role also involves mentoring and supervision of PhD student and undergraduate final year thesis students, ensuring alignment with the broader objectives of the C2 project.
