The Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) is seeking to appoint two Senior Research Fellows (Level C) to our team. The successful candidates will have exceptional skills in quantitative analysis and/or economic evaluation, and a strong track record in publications, developing research proposals and managing research projects. 

CHERE is a long established research centre with a national and international reputation for excellence and policy engagement in health economics and health services research. The Centre is a recognised Research Strength of the University of Technology Sydney.

There is growing demand for commissioned research in health economics, technology assessment and policy evaluation. The Centre has had recent success in winning major grants and commissioned research pieces. In this rapidly developing environment, we need to recruit high calibre candidates who can make major contributions to this work program.  We also anticipate that this position will contribute to the Centre’s capacity to create new opportunities in research funding.

In all our research, a key component is to engage with policy makers and other managers to improve the use of research evidence in decision making. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing proposals for new research proposals, both for competitive grant schemes and responses to requests for commissioned projects or tenders
  • Conducting independent health economics and health services research
  • Supervision of junior researchers, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and providing leadership in research teams
  • Identifying suitable data sources and leading and conducting data analysis and interpretation
  • Preparing written reports, conference presentations and high quality peer-reviewed journal articles
  • Contributing to the CHERE teaching program
  • Contributing to CHERE’s industry engagement through preparation of policy briefings and papers
  • Undertaking academic administrative roles within the Centre and the University

You will be an effective team member, working closely with health economists and health service researchers, and industry partners. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical, written and quantitative skills.

You will have a doctoral qualification in health economics, microeconomics, evaluation, or econometrics. Experience in health services or social science research and familiarity with the Australian health care system are desirable.

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $119,674 to $133,719 pa (Level C)

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.

These appointments will be on a 2 year fixed term full-time basis.
