Cardiff University is an ambitious and innovative university, with turnover exceeding £500 million per annum, and is undergoing a transformational multi-million pound investment programme across its estate and activities for which it has successfully raised a £300 million bond. Within this dynamic context, we are now seeking to appoint an outstanding Director of Research and Innovation Services to provide strategic leadership for the coherent and effective support for research and innovation focused activities for the institution.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and a key member of the University’s Professional Services Board, the Director of Research and Innovation Services will be expected to maximize research and commercial income to the University from public, private and third sector organisations, and will have responsibility for a live research grants and contracts portfolio in excess of £500 million.
The successful candidate for this role will have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with significant experience of managing large teams of staff delivering research and innovation support services in a major complex organization. To succeed, you will already have a track record of working at a senior professional management level with a range of stakeholders to deliver revenue and commercial relationships.
