The Faculty of Health & Applied Sciences at UWE Bristol seeks applicants from varied backgrounds, including Applied Sciences, Health, Psychology and Social Sciences for the role of Associate Dean (Research) to work alongside the Pro Vice-Chancellor/Executive Dean and the senior Faculty team. The Associate Dean (Research) will have responsibility for strategic oversight of Faculty research and knowledge exchange activities; manage the Research Centre Directors and Research Group Leaders and the PGR Director; and advise the Pro Vice-Chancellor/Executive Dean on strategic developments to support the achievement of the Faculty’s aims and objectives.
Research in the Faculty is principally organised into three Research Centres – Appearance Research, Biosciences and Clinical and Health Research, alongside the Science Communication Unit and three Research Groups in Public Health and Wellbeing, Psychological Sciences and Social Science. We also collaborate with the Faculty of Environment and Technology to operate the knowledge exchange venture the Institute of Bio-sensing Technology. The University has recently launched the University Enterprise Zone, housing Future Space, the Bristol Robotics Laboratory, the HealthTech Hub and the emerging Bio-incubator, offering research and development expertise, research facilities and incubator and start-up space for emerging new companies.
We are looking for someone with a first degree and a PhD in relevant disciplines, an international research record consistent with Professorial status, and a substantial record of achievement as an academic and significant experience of senior management.
HAS is based at both our Frenchay and Glenside campuses where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources. Frenchay campus is within close proximity to excellent motorway links and within walking distance of two train stations, making UWE Frenchay Campus the ideal place to work for those wishing to commute to Bristol.
