At the Faculty of Computer Science, Institute for Software and Multimedia Technology, the position 

Chair (W2) of Didactics of lnformatics

is to be filled starting from April 1th 2018. The successful applicant is required to represent the area in research and teaching. Besides national and international research activities and collaborations, a close cooperation within the Faculty of Computer Science, with other university academic units and partner institutions of DRESDEN concept is desirable. The successful applicant is expected to take over the directorship of the Student Computing Centre of the TU Dresden and to further advance its development. The area of responsibility also includes cooperation with the State Ministry of Education concerning the Saxon Education Server / the Saxon School Database. The applicant is also expected to collaborate with the Centre for Teacher Education and Education Research of TU Dresden, to participate in self-administration and academic boards of the Faculty of Computer Science and to collaborate in an interdisciplinary way. The teaching responsibilities cover courses for educating informatics teachers at TU Dresden, contributions to other courses of study at the Faculty of Computer Science and beyond for students of other subjects as well as certificate courses for teachers in the area of digital media at schools. A willingness and ability to conduct classes in English is expected.

Research of the applicant should include substantial contributions in several of the following areas: 
-    Development of concepts and standards in informatics education
-    Analysis and evaluation methods for educational practice in informatics 
-    Development of theories and research methods for didactics of informatics
-    E-Learning, online-learning platforms, and utilization of digital media for teaching
-    Media didactics and digital media in education.
A special emphasis is on substantial experience and scientifically recognized work in several of these topics along with a high number of high-quality publications. In addition, experiences in school teaching as well as in acquiring and successfully conducting research projects and in project management are required. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements § 58 of the Act Governing Academic Freedom in Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (Saxon Academic Freedom in Higher Education Act - SächsHSFG). A Habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship or equivalent qualifications are a prerequisite.
