Yew Chung Community College (YCCC) is a member of the Yew Chung Education Foundation (YCEF) in Hong Kong, which, together with its sister schools in Mainland China and the USA, offers bilingual international education at Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary levels. Our network of schools currently serves more than 8,000 students, and we will soon be celebrating our 85th anniversary, as well as the 10th anniversary of YCCC.

Yew Chung Community College, building on the strengths of YCEF, has established itself as a provider of high quality post-secondary programmes with special niche in Early Childhood Education (ECE). In 2014, we became the first private, self-financed institution in Hong Kong to offer formal ECE pre-service teacher training. Our boutique-sized College values and promotes interactive learning, small-class teaching and hands-on experiences. Being an English-speaking College with an international faculty, we also attract non-Chinese-speaking ethnic minority students, and take pride in our staff and student diversity.

The College offers a 2-year Higher Diploma Programme in Early Childhood Education (HDECE) and its graduates can articulate to Year 3 of relevant Bachelor degree programmes.  The HDECE Programme qualifies its graduates to be registered in Hong Kong as Kindergarten Teachers, Child Care Workers, Child Care Supervisors, and Special Child Care Workers. The College is undergoing an accreditation process for acquiring degree-award granting status and is planning to launch its first 4-year degree programme, Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood Education (BEdECE), in September 2018.

In anticipation of the launch of the Programme, and also to meet the growing needs of the HDECE programme, applications are invited for the following positions:

Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer (Early Childhood Education) 

Expected start date: July 2017 or as soon as possible

Positions Summary:
The successful applicant will have a passion and demonstrated ability to teach Early Childhood Education courses. He/She is expected to provide academic leadership in managing both the BEdECE and HDECE programmes, including mentoring junior academic colleagues in teaching and research. For appointment at the professorial track, appointee is also expected to undertake research.

Applicants should meet the following requirements for the rank they apply for:

Professor Rank
1.    A relevant Doctoral degree;
2.    A distinguished record of teaching, educational management, curriculum design and development in Higher Education; 
3.    Significant contribution and international reputation in high quality scholarship and research; 
4.    Demonstrated academic leadership; and 
5.    Experience as a practitioner, teaching non-native speakers of English and having a strong local and international network within the ECE sector would be advantageous. 

Associate Professor Rank
1.    A relevant Doctoral degree;
2.    Substantial experience (preferably not less than 8 years) in teaching, educational management and curriculum design and development in Higher Education;
3.    A good record of research and publications; and 
4.    Experience as a practitioner, teaching non-native speakers of English and having a strong network within the ECE sector would be advantageous.

Senior Lecturer Rank
1.    A relevant Doctoral degree or comparable professional qualifications;  
2.    At least 5 years’ full-time  teaching, curriculum design and development experience at post-secondary level or comparable industrial experience;
3.    Substantial programme or relevant academic management experience; and 
4.    Active participation in scholarly and research activities.

Salary and Fringe Benefits:
Appointment will be made on fixed-term contracts commencing July 2017 (or as soon as possible), renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement. 

Remuneration is competitive and will be based on qualifications and relevant experience. The College offers group medical insurance, staff development support, research grant, annual leave and sick leave, and Mandatory Provident Fund to eligible appointee(s).
