PhD Scholarship - Design Innovation Education

Swinburne’s emphasis is on high-quality, engaged teaching and research in science, technology, business, design and innovation – teaching and research that makes a difference in the lives of individuals and contributes to national economic and social objectives.
The Centre for Design Innovation is a fast growing research effort of Swinburne University of Technology. Advancing the future talent of Australians in applied design led innovation is a core strategic interest to CDI. We seek to commence a Swinburne University Post Graduate Award scholarship (APA equivalent), for a highly motivated and eligible graduate to produce deep research into the following areas:
1) Towards a model of appropriate developmental milestones in applied design led innovation from early emergent play, to sophisticated pioneering capabilities
2) Robust conceptual foundations for capacity to engage in degrees of complexity related to our designed environment where people, ecology, and technologies interact towards addressing goals of impact and outcome.

Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will not need to have a design degree background. You will need to demonstrate the following:
- A Bachelor degree with honours (equivalent to 2A or above) and/or a master’s degree with clear reseach project components in a field ether related to Design Innovation, Design and Technology, or educational development.
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination certificate with a minimum overall score of 6.5 with no individual band score below 6.0
- Demonstrable ability to be self-motivated with an aptitude for research and development, including grant development..
- Good team-working, observational and communication skills, writing and presenting research or projects to an informed audience.
