The School of Veterinary Science has a rich history having been founded in 1936 and has a reputation for graduating self reliant, independent and highly capable veterinarians with plenty of initiative and drive. The School has high quality facilities at the UQ Gatton Campus, providing the teaching, research and clinical infrastructure and resources to develop its strong reputation as a leading provider of veterinary training, research and clinical care. The school also maintains a small animal hospital and large animal clinic at Dayboro, north-west of Brisbane.
The primary role of the position is to provide support to the teaching, diagnostic services and research missions of the School of Veterinary Science. The successful applicant will provide histological services to the anatomic and pathology divisions of Veterinary Laboratory Services (VLS). As well as providing an essential service for veterinary clinicians and other clients, it supports undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and research. The position will achieve these goals through application of histology knowledge and skills. The successful applicant will be expected to proactively contribute to other diagnostic areas including clinical pathology
The successful applicant should possess a Degree in Science or related discipline majoring in Histology, Medical Laboratory Science, Veterinary Science or Veterinary Technology together with experience of at least 3 years in histology and special stains or have an equivalent combination of training and previous clinical laboratory experience.
This is a full-time, continuing appointment at HEW Level 5. The remuneration package will be in the range $64,597 - $72,348 per annum plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,579 - $84,648 p.a.).
