Assistant Solicitor
Permanent Full Time

Ref: VC0089

£38,183 - £46,924 per annum

The Governance and Legal Services Department seeks to appoint an Assistant Solicitor to give legal advice, drafting and support in respect of a range of issues affecting the University.

The role involves working with and advising a variety of different stakeholders across the University in both Academic and Professional Service Departments both independently as well as part of an in-house team dealing with legal, governance and compliance matters.

You will need to be flexible and prioritise time according to the needs of each area at the time, and be fully appreciative of the need for discretion and confidentiality, whilst meeting the broader requirements of the Governance and Legal Services team.

The successful candidate must be a graduate (or equivalent) and professionally qualified, as either a solicitor or barrister, to practise in England and Wales.

Our staff enjoy competitive salaries and a great working environment with a number of benefits ranging from the occupational pension scheme to use of the University’s facilities including the library and fitness centre. We are strongly committed to equality and recognise the value of a diverse workforce.

We offer generous holiday entitlements plus eight bank and public holidays, as well as discretionary days over the Christmas period.
