The School of Engineering and Technology is seeking to appoint two lecturers or senior lecturers in Civil Engineering, in support of the launch of a new Civil Engineering Degree. Applicants will have a first degree in Civil Engineering and ideally a higher degree in Civil Engineering or another related subject, as well as a track record of teaching and research, or industry experience, in at least one of the following areas of interest:

  • Civil Engineering Materials
  • Fluid Mechanics, Open Channel Hydraulics and River Engineering
  • Surveying, Highway Engineering and Civil Engineering Construction, including Safety.
  • Structural Analysis and Design

The right candidate will be joining a successful and ambitious School, which enjoys numerous external accreditations. The School is now looking to appoint academic staff to launch a new and innovative Civil Engineering Degree, developed and delivered in partnership with BRE.

The successful candidate will contribute to:

  • Teaching on the new degree, including the development of course materials, as well as undertaking necessary administrative, tutorial and laboratory activities, and the supervision of project students.
  • Research and commercial activity in support the University’s ambition to be internationally renowned as the UK’s leading business-facing University, including the supervision of research student projects.

Working directly with a new BRE Professor of Civil Engineering, the Dean of School, BRE, and others, this will be an exciting opportunity to shape a new Civil Engineering degree and contribute to the School’s research. The School offers a friendly and collegiate working environment, where someone with proven teaching, research and/or industry experience will be supported to realise his/her own ambitions and those of the team.

We particularly encourage applications from women as they are under-represented within the School at these levels.
