Applications are invited for a fixed-term, one-year position as Lecturer in German. Candidates must have a PhD in German Studies on a literary or cultural theme with a transcultural focus. They must have an excellent track record in research commensurate with their career stage. They will have native or near-native competence in German and proven experience in and commitment to the teaching of the German language. 

The successful candidate will complement the existing team of lecturing staff who have specialisms in literary and cultural studies, adaptation and translation studies, as well as intellectual history and German philosophy ranging from the seventeenth century to the present day. German Studies at UCD is committed to delivering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across a broad curriculum and we particularly welcome applicants who demonstrate the ability to deliver innovative, engaging teaching.

Note:  It is envisaged the appointee will commenced in post on 1 August 2017.

Lecturer/Assistant Professor (below the bar) Salary: €31,820 – €56,602 per annum

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
