Description: As a Research Assistant, you will undertake a variety of research related tasks including performing experiments on rodents, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, tissue culture and biochemical assays under the guidance of the project lead.
Initially located at the University of Western Australia and relocating to the Sarich Neuroscience Research Institute, this unique opportunity will allow you to utilise your strong research support skills and make significant contributions to the research program. You will be working within a team of energetic researchers and research students.
Completion of a relevant degree along with highly developed small animal surgical skills, preferably in rodents, is essential. Experience in immunohistochemistry and microscopy experience is highly desirable and tissue culture and biochemical assay experience is an advantage.
The successful applicant will also demonstrate strong organisational and problem solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated experience contributing to multiple projects is required, as is training of students in laboratory procedures. The successful candidate will contribute to laboratory management, training and compliance with all safety procedures and some general administrative duties, experience in these areas would be an advantage.
Benefits and Remuneration: The salary ranges presented are those which are contained within the University's Enterprise Agreements; as are the employee benefits which include employer superannuation contribution at the rate of the current Government Superannuation Guarantee amount up to 17 percent, study assistance, a comprehensive salary packaging and wellness programs and flexible and family friendly work practices.
