Salary is in the range £41,458 to £49,059 per annum inclusive of London Allowance

Applications are invited for a permanent Lecturer in Sociology post in the School of Law, Royal Holloway University of London. This post will consolidate and enhance the School’s reputation as an internationally leading centre for excellence in research and teaching across the disciplines we represent, which include Law, Forensic Psychology, Sociology and Criminology.

Recent years have seen the successful growth of our School and we now offer the LLB in Law as well as Law with Criminology and Law with Sociology to complement our existing undergraduate programmes in Criminology & Psychology and Criminology & Sociology, all of which can be taken together with a Year in Industry. Our postgraduate taught provision includes Masters programmes in Forensic Psychology and Consumption, Culture & Marketing, and the School is also home to a vibrant postgraduate research student community.

In expanding our team we seek an outstanding Sociologist who is an enthusiastic researcher and a committed lecturer. The successful candidate will contribute to our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Sociology (being able to contribute to teaching in our other subject areas will be an advantage but is not essential) and as well as core sociology teaching will have the opportunity to develop and deliver specialist options and supervise doctoral students.

We offer a dynamic and supportive environment, in an internationally recognised and multidisciplinary academic group. The School has a strong research culture and benefits from excellent links with a wide range of legal and Criminal Justice agencies, as well as government and charitable organisations. Our collective research activities are represented in seven active research groupings within the school (Socio-Legal, Health, Medicine & Regulation, Risk, Security & Insecurity, Violence & Harm, Prisons, Social Identities and Social Divisions, Families & Children) and applicants should have the research expertise and profile to compliment and strengthen these groupings.

Commencing August 1st or soon after this is a full time post, but job share/part time applications are welcome (please indicate this on your application, if applicable). The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
