The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the University's strategies related to RMIT's academic programs and the RMIT student experience. The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the student experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources.The Education Portfolio plays a key role in empowering students to access education, participate actively in the life of the University and achieve successful and fulfilling lives beyond graduation. The Role and Your Responsibilities
The Programmer Analyst is responsible for providing a high level of technical skills to support the development and maintenance of stand-alone systems and to facilitate continuous improvement to, and efficiency within, an increasingly complex operating environment. The position will also provide advice and support to manage the interface between RMIT's student enterprise application (SAMS), and student administration operations (e.g. admissions, enrolments, etc.) of the University. Expert knowledge of the student enterprise system to identify and resolve problems ensuring timely and optimal use of the student enterprise application and operations across the University, is required. The position will work in a consultative manner with key internal and external clients and support staff across the organisation to ensure the smooth running of student administration operational activities. Occasional evening and weekend work and restrictions on annual leave may be necessary during peak periods.
Skills & Experience Required
You will have demonstrated ability to design, develop, test, document, implement and support system development activities coupled with a proven ability to deliver highly efficient and professional quality applications using a structured methodology. Your experience in analysing and interpreting a range of information and be able to present advice on complex issues will be essential to your success in this role. Furthermore your ability to approach problem solving creatively and imaginatively and demonstrate ability to contribute to the continuous improvement of policies, systems and processes in a service-oriented environment is important to this role.
