Philosophy is new and rapidly developing discipline in the College that now offers a full range of undergraduate and MA programmes and has an established research student culture. It has been prioritized for ‘growth’, and these three new appointments will increase the group to six permanent members of staff and set the direction for the future development of research and teaching agendas, including a REF submission for 2020.
We are seeking to appoint three lecturers:
Lecturer in Philosophy (Open)
We welcome applications from scholars working in any area of philosophy. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to both our undergraduate programme, and our MA in philosophy.
Lecturer in Philosophy (Modern European Philosophy)
We welcome applications from scholars with a specialism in modern European philosophy. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to both our undergraduate programme, and our MA in philosophy.
Lecturer in Philosophy (Post-Kantian Philosophy)
We welcome applications from scholars with a specialism in post-Kantian philosophy, with an ability to engage in debates in the Anglo-American tradition. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to both our undergraduate programme, and our MA in philosophy.
We also have teaching needs in ancient philosophy that would be desirable to fill through these appointments. You will be asked to specify which role you would prefer to apply for on your application form.
