THE ALAN TURING INSTITUTE

The Alan Turing Institute (the Turing) is the national centre for data science, established in 2015 with the mission to make great leaps in transformational data science research that will have positive real-world impacts.

The Turing is headquartered at The British Library, and brings together researchers from a range of disciplines - mathematics, statistics, computing and social sciences, engineering.  More than 90 Faculty Fellows are currently in-post from our five founding partner universities (Cambridge, Edinburgh, Oxford, UCL and Warwick), based part-time at the Turing HQ, along with a growing number of full-time Research Fellows and PhD students. For a list of all Faculty and Research Fellows and their interests please see our webpage: www.turing.ac.uk/people.

We invite you to join us as we grow our research community, supporting our goal to develop the next generation of data science leaders, shape the public conversation, and push the boundaries of this new science for the public good.

THE ROLE

This post is part of the new Policy Innovation Unit (PIU) being created within the Turing. The Unit will provide operational capacity for the Alan Turing Institute’s corporate engagement with UK government policy in the area of data science, and engage with learned societies, charities, and other organizations on data science policy.  In addition, the Unit will carry out research in data science for policy-making more generally and, crucially, ensure the outcomes from cutting edge research in the area are made accessible to public policy-makers within the UK government and beyond. The post is therefore essential to connect the PIU with the Turing Institute’s Business Team and its policy advice function.
