At Bournemouth University our vision is to create the most stimulating, challenging and rewarding university experience in a world-class learning community by sharing our unique fusion of excellent education, research and professional practice and inspiring our students, graduates and staff to enrich the world.

We were the first university to be commended by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) for the quality of student learning opportunities and in 2012 we won the Queens Anniversary Award for Higher Education. We are currently changing the face of the university through our new, transformational estates programme with a stunning series of iconic new buildings, and we are continuing to invest further in our intellectual capital by seeking to appoint high calibre teams and individuals to our award-winning Faculties.

The Faculty of Media & Communication is seeking an exceptional candidate to lead the Department of Corporate & Marketing Communications. Our award-winning Faculty enjoys a strong international reputation, aiming to combine the highest academic standards with the most up-to-date professional practice.

We offer Undergraduate and Masters Programmes in Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing Communications, Marketing and Politics. Corporate & Marketing Communications is a thriving department with over forty academics. This team combines excellent learning & teaching, close engagement with industry practitioners, including knowledge exchange and enterprise activity, with international research outputs across a broad range of areas, under the umbrella of ‘Promotional Communications’.

To be successful in this role you will have well developed leadership skills together with a strong record of educational development, research expertise and potential REF outputs and engagement with professional practice.

You will be qualified to Doctorate level or equivalent in a relevant field.  You will have demonstrated global research leadership and you will be committed to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.

Candidate should also have successful experience of managing staff (ideally academic staff) and planning/setting/agreeing workloads against departmental budgets and resource allocation.

Bournemouth is growing - Come and grow with us

We rose 11 places to 54 in the Complete University Guide ranking for 2014/15. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework 96% of BU research in eight areas was rated at international level and 18% of that rated at world leading.

The department seeks leadership to further enhance its collegiate and collaborate practices, retain high levels of motivation and help secure/maintain resources for it to flourish. With REF and TEF on to the close horizon the department also looks forward to helping the new Head of Department create a strategic response to these challenges.
