At Bournemouth University our vision is to create the most stimulating, challenging and rewarding university experience in a world-class learning community by sharing our unique fusion of excellent education, research and professional practice and inspiring our students, graduates and staff to enrich the world.

We were the first university to be commended by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) for the quality of student learning opportunities and in 2012 we won the Queens Anniversary Award for Higher Education. We are currently changing the face of the university through our new, transformational estates programme with a stunning series of iconic new buildings, and we are continuing to invest further in our intellectual capital by seeking to appoint high calibre teams and individuals to our award-winning Faculties.

Bournemouth has been recognised as the fastest developing cluster in digital technologies in the UK
(http://www.techcityuk.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Tech%20Nation%202015.pdf), with a plethora of IT companies and Bournemouth Council heavily investing in the region.

The Department of Computing & Informatics has been offering courses in this well-established subject area for over 20 years and is renowned for producing not only highly employable graduates (the Guardian having noted specifically our reputation for providing courses which equip students with the skills for the profession), but also graduates of high esteem and recognition; for example, one of our students won Graduate 100 (awarded to the best Computing graduate in the UK) in 2010 and another won the Cyber Security Challenge in 2015. Specifically regarding Cyber Security, the Department has a substantial portfolio of courses and research, supported by a dedicated research group of seven academics and over ten researchers. The cyber security academic provision is characterised by two undergraduate degrees, BSc Forensics and Computer Security, BSc in Cyber Security Management, one executive MSc Cyber Security and Human Factors, and an MSc Internet of Things with Cyber Security. Beyond this, the Department has the Cyber Security Unit, which is a consulting unit serving as a portal to the Cyber Security industry.

We are seeking an entrepreneurial Cyber Security expert with an established academic profile, to lead the BU Cyber Security Unit and manage the portfolio of research and industry partnerships, thus capitalising on the ever increasing cybersecurity academic and commercial market. Candidates should possess a track record in the commercial application of Cyber Security services, successful tender writing and knowledge of current and emerging competitors. A strong desire to build and grow new consultancy business, experience in positioning risk and/or security services to corporate executives, and demonstrated success in a business development and/or sales role in a professional services environment, are important attributes of the role.

We support our academic staff with a rich personal development programme; seek funds for mobility and networking, grants writing support, internal funding scheme for PhD studentships, and engagement with industry facilities. We have a strong team-based working style and we support new academics in a friendly and collaborative environment and expect them to be excellent team players and communicators.

You will be qualified to Doctorate level or equivalent in a relevant field.  You will have demonstrated global research leadership and you will be committed to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
